The Chamber presented a Milestone Award to ECA: Electri-Cable Assemblies to commemorate their 40th Anniversary. ECA was founded in April, 1975 by entrepreneur David McCarthy, an electrical engineer who started building cord sets out of his garage. With his vision, spirit, and leadership, ECA developed a line of wiring harnesses used in panel system furniture. As the demand for power and data expanded into other areas, such as conference rooms, ECA focused its attention on designing work surface products for these new applications. Sadly, David McCarthy passed away in May of 2004, but his legacy lives on. In May of 2006, Premier Manufacturing Group, a partnership consisting of two long time employees, Dave Black & Glenn Golden along with a third business associate Russ Hayden, purchased the company. Their commitment to building on ECA's strengths while investing in its future has led the way for growth through the past 10 years. Today, ECA is a leading designer and manufacturer of power, data and electrical solutions for the office furniture industry. Their family of power and data modules extend from high end troughs used in conference room applications to simple power data grommets used in training tables, library and educational applications. ECA’s products can be found in GE, Ebay, Cisco, Caterpillar, Federal Express, Lockhead Martin, Direct Energy, Candelwood Suites, the Universiy of Michigan, University of Florida and locally at Gateway Community College and Mohegan Sun. ECA is proud to be an active member of AME, the Association for Manufacturing Excellence, and is a recipient of the AME Northeast Excellence in Manufacturing Award. The company regularly hosts best practice tours and round table discussions to share ideas and experiences with other area manufacturers, and are proud to say they manufacture everything at their Shelton facility located at 10 Mountain View Drive. Conserving natural resources and minimizing their footprint on the environment are fundamental ideals at ECA. Finally, throughout the year, ECA sponsors and participates in a variety of events to benefit our local community. ECA employees volunteer monthly at the Spooner House, they are a proud sponsor of Celebrate Shelton, and in 2015 received the Business Volunteer of the Year Award from the City of Shelton. Their outreach efforts include Griffin Hospital’s Valley Goes Pink and St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital where they have raised over $60k through their charitable golf tournament. In recognition of their steady growth and in celebration of their 40th anniversary, the chamber is pleased to present a breakfast club salute to ECA. |
