By: Anna De Simone SHELTON, Conn. – As Connecticut approaches phase two of the state’s reopening, Shelton’s L Bellissima Day Spa Owner, Lisa Serra, is preparing to resume business on July 6 –with modifications to the standard spa experience her clients are accustomed to. According to Gov. Ned Lamont’s multi-phase reopening plan for Connecticut, hair salons across Connecticut were permitted to reopen on May 20 during phase one. Meanwhile, spa owners have been ordered to halt their reopening until phase two on June 17. “I was lucky enough to be part of the ReOpen Team for our industry these past few weeks,” said Serra. “We have always practiced proper guidelines for the safety of our guests and staff and will continue to do so with additional guidelines that have been set forward for our industry.” When Gov. Lamont announced the shutdown of non-essential businesses in Connecticut, Serra said she wasn’t surprised by the decision. Nevertheless, one concern lingered prior to and during the shutdown: how L Bellissima Day Spa will survive. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous small businesses have developed a profound reliance on online orders to satisfy customers and maintain a steady source of revenue. While some business owners had an established online-order feature on their websites previous to the shutdown, other businesses owners chose to partake in the e-commerce realm for the sake of their business’s survival. Since spas revolve around in-person beauty-related services, continuing to serve clients electronically was not an option for L Bellissima Day Spa. Serra mentioned how she attempted to sell spa products on her website, but hasn’t been too successful. “People are being very careful with the dollars they spend these days,” said Serra. Even with the reopening, the usual services L Bellissima Day Spa provides to clients will be limited for safety precautions. Serra said her spa is only allowed to open for waxing services, massages and manicures. Though, she mentioned that facials are not permitted at this time due to safety concerns. One of the main changes to the L Bellissima Day Spa experience includes guests and staff being obligated to wear a mask at all times, according to Serra. Nevertheless, a policy that remains: Serra’s dedication to the well-being of her staff and clients. “We strive on the safety of our guests as well as our staff, said Serra. “We are doing everything possible to keep a spa experience relaxing while following all of the guidelines.” Check out L Bellissima Day Spa here Connect to L Bellissima Day Spa on Facebook and Instagram |
