By: Anna De Simone SHELTON, Conn. – The staff at Luscious & Co. Beauty was eager as ever to return to work on June 1 --with precautionary measures beyond those required by the state of Connecticut-- all in effort to ease worry of the spread of COVID-19. “The safety of our guests and team is our top priority, said Luscious & Co. Beauty Owner, Jessica Arrindell. “We have implemented a strict cleaning process to ensure constant sanitization.” Aside from the state’s standard face mask and strict capacity limit policies, 15 minutes are reserved in between each guest to fully disinfect the service station and prepare for the upcoming guest, temperature checks are performed on guests prior to entering the salon and a fogger is utilized each night to sterilize the entire space, according to Arrindell. “To our existing guests, your patience and loyalty have given us pure excitement to get back to work!” said Arrindell. “To our new guests, rest assured we have taken every measure to ensure your safety to provide you an amazing experience.” Connecticut hair salons were originally intended to be opened on May 20 as stated in Gov. Ned Lamont’s phase one reopening plan. As a result of the request of an extension of time to prepare before opening their doors to clients, the reopening date was then postponed. “When the Governor announced reopening on May 20, we felt this was too soon as we were still waiting for some of our PPE to arrive, said Arrindell. “Our reopening date was set for May 27, ultimately being pushed back to June 1 to meet the Governor’s direction.” Changes at Luscious & Co. Beauty occurred as soon as the salon shut down. Arrindell said she launched a “shop from home” portal where Luscious & Co. Beauty salon products can be ordered online directly through their distributor and shipped to the clients’ homes for free. According to Arrindell, the reopening of her salon was an organized process with no issues. Nevertheless, she said it is taking her staff some time to adapt to PPE –specifically blow-drying clients’ hair while wearing masks and face shields. For this reason, Arrindell said she is urging her team to listen to their bodies and limit blow-drying when necessary. Following the uncharted territory associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, many individuals have developed a newfound respect for the selflessness and bravery of essential workers. Arrindell said she extends a thank-you to essential workers for having “truly paved the way for us to resume a new sense of normal” through this tragic, unprecedented time. “We recognize the toll this unforeseen time has presented to us all,” said Arrindell. “Whether you were on the front lines saving our community or a stay-at-home Mom navigating homeschool- we see you, you deserve to relax and feel your best self- we are here for you!” Check out the official website of Luscious & Co.
